This year it's all the more special, having a little person to shop for and pamper. I've tried very hard not to buy too many things for her (given she has no idea what is actually going on) but I couldn't help purchasing a few choice items...
Here is what I have bought so far:
A personalised wooden name puzzle - okay so her name isn't Olivia but you can buy a puzzle for your baby with it's name personalised. They charge by the letter (so shorter names are cheaper) and it comes with a great wooden storage box from Mooo.
A Violet rag doll from Alimrose. I first saw this doll on their Facebook page and had to have it. Eventually it was tracked down at The Hip Infant. She looks just like Baby G so of course I was thrilled!
This penguin hand puppet from ChunkiChilli at Not On The High Street. I have blogged about their rabbits before. I have to say I found it very hard to choose a toy from their selection but eventually we settled on this one.I still need to buy her a book so if anyone has any suggestions they would be gratefully received. Especially something that can be bought online as I am allergic to the shops at the moment!

I love what you've chosen for little baby G. Some book recommendations from me (as a teacher and mother of two little girls):
* "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle
* "Where is the Green Sheep" by Mem Fox
* "Hairy McLary from Donaldson's Dairy" by Lynley Dodd (there are a whole series of these wonderful and funny books)
* "Mr McGee and the Perfect Nest" by Pamela Allen
Some wonderful children's book authors you could look out for include: Mem Fox, Pamela Allen, Alison Lester and Graeme Base.
There are so many others and if you do a bit of online browsing I'm sure you'll also find some of your favourites that you could rediscover and share with your little one :)

I have bought Tabitha the most divine picture book - it's called Sally's Secret, it's written and illustrated by the inimitable Shirley Hughes (author of the Naughty Little Sister classic children's books, which you must also procure!).
The pictures are just beautiful - soft but realistic, LOADS of detail to look at and chat about (key with most toddlers, who prefer to talk about the pics than read the actual words in my experience). A little girl finds a beautiful hiding spot in her garden, has a tea party with a friend, and a CAT comes and finds them.
Aside from this book (which I'm obsessed with as you can tell), Tabitha loves "I Went Walking", all the Hairy Maclary books, and anything featuring farm animals, cats and dogs.
Her current favourite toy (hours of entertainment) is a box of 10 'stacking blocks' of Maisy Mouse theme, with loads of pictures and detail on them. The colours are not as garish as the online picture. She wasn't interested so much when she was younger (except chewing) but from 15 months (now she can actually stack them) she is in love. She loves pointing out all the kinds of animals on them. Maybe an idea for next Christmas?

Its a beautiful book, with such sweet words.
I read it to Abi all the time and still get a little teary at the end of it "but the next baby born was truly divine, a sweet little child who was mine, all mine."

Those gifts are so cute. Enjoy the posting about her presents while you can - before you know it, she'll be able to read and the Santa illusion will be lost!
