Candle, candle, burning bright....
Sydney Shop Girl inspired this post. She posted the other day about her evening ritual of a cup of T2 tea and a scented candle. It sounded to relaxing and luxurious I couldn't help but replicate the activity.
I have many scented candles in my collection - the vast majority of them still in their boxes in pristine unlit condition. So, in response to the rainy dreary weather Sydney is currently in the midst of, I made an effort tonight to pull one out from my scented candle candle cupboard (yes, I have a cupboard for them). Continuing this week's theme of Red, tonight's choice was simple.
I bought this Diptyque candle in New York last year. I stumbled across the shop on a walk through the West Village. It's a tiny hole in the wall, blink and you'll miss it. But I made a number of choice purchases while Mr K was siting outside basking in the warm sunshine. This was one of them. With sweet notes of Madagascar vanilla, tobacco, fresh Rooïbos and undertones of wood and balsam, this limited edition candle smells divine. Warm and soothing, perfect for a cold Winter's night. And another bonus - ten percent of the proceeds of each (diptyque)RED special edition candle goes to help to eliminate AIDS in Africa.
Not only does it perfume my house beautifully, I feel better about the world by striking a match.
Diptyque candles are available in Australia at Mecca Cosmetica. They are expensive there but if you can't buy them overseas they are still worth the investment. Just perhaps a little less frequently. I also like the Roses and Geranium Rosa candles in the fragrance line up.

Oooh I stumbled across the little boutique in the West Village too, and stocked up, in light of the dollar situation! They really are so expensive here.
My favourites are Tuberose and Baies I think. But I haven't tried them all - yet...

A pleasure to be an inspiration, Miss Kitty!
I must go and investigate Dyptique... I love Tocca but can never find them.

Diptyque is a divine range. I love their L'Ombre Dans L'eau perfume, so fresh and green. Scented candles are a must for the winter XXX
Love Diptyque candles - Baies is gorgeous too! Red is lovely I remember..... Am burning a Cire Trudon candle atm - so cosy and wintery! XX
Have you tried Santa Maria Novella from Florence Miss K?
I think thru beat all the other brands hands down as they are not overpowering or sinus headache inducing.
I loved the red preggers dress BTW, but can understand choosing black!

I am obsessed with scented candles, right now its Glasshouse, but would love to splash out on a Diptyque candle, they are divine xx
Mummy - so glad you found the store! I was really impressed with the prices in comparison to Australia. Such a pity the candles are so heavy - I can only ever really justify 3 or so when I go overseas...
SSG - I love Jo Malone too but have never tried Tocca. Will have to keep my eyes out for them!
Sophie P - so glad you agree! Their fragrances are lovely too!
SE - it's really soft and warm. I'm not a big spicy floral fan but this is lovely. I more prefer citrus or roses but this is really appropriate for winter.
Lou - I love Santa Maria Novella! Everytime we go to Florence I always swing by the store. I love it's ancient feel and no matter how many times I go I always get lost. Their scents are so subtle and beautiful!
Kitty - I have a few glasshouse candles in my stash - I love the frangrances they have. So pretty!
