I feel so out of the loop...

There is one thing I don't like about being away (other than the unpacking). It's the missing out on things that go on in your absence.

I missed the first episode of The Kennedys. I missed all the shenanigans on Masterchef. What's this thing called Planking? And when did Tim ask Julia to marry him??

Having said all that, I don't think I really missed out on too much... Based on friends' responses to my plea for an update on facebook about Masterchef goings on, most people said this year the contestants were boring and untalented. The Kennedys got mixed reviews from most people and I'm not convinced about Katie Holmes playing Jackie. It's a bit like Joan Rivers playing Lady Macbeth really. Entertaining but for all the wrong reasons. Planking seems to have come and gone, very fad like. Still don't know what it was about but that's likely for the best I think. And as for the dross in Womans Day, the less said the better.

No, it seems like life has gone on as per usual with me not in the country. Although it has gotten very cold here in Sydney. The strappy maxi dresses I swanned around in whilst in Vegas clearly won't do for this frosty weather. I'll have to layer up for my daily goings on instead.

Luckily I bought a little bit in the US. Mostly for Smudge (aka Baby Kitty) and many presents for friends babies and my niece and nephews but Mumma got in on the action as well, naturally. We came home with five pieces of luggage yesterday totalling (according to the baggage tags) 130kg. Please keep in mind that included a crib (the Bloom Alma in Coconut White) which weighed in at 25kilos full packed and the Bugaboo Cameleon in it's travel bag which is about 22kilos. So there's quite a bit of extra stuff that did come home with us, considering we took less than 40kilos between us to begin with.

The problem with all those purchases, unfortunately, is that they do need to be unpacked. Boo! Guess what's on my agenda over the next few days? I'll give you a hint - not catching up on old episodes of Masterchef...

Welcome home, Kitty!

I did a massive declutter to assist in the unpacking of all my stuff.

Should have brought home more food....

Looking forward to all the details on your buys. I am in holiday withdrawals...

Sarah - the unpacking scares me. I can't face it today. Maybe I'll get the cats to help me tomorrow... They love suitcases!

Sophie P - I watched last night and I have to say there aren't many people who seem to stand out so far. I will give it a week or so before I make any judgements though!

SSG - A good declutter is definitely in order in the Kitty household. I didn't bring back much food, just the goldfish, some baking chips, some flavourings (vanilla, orange, lemon and raspberry from Williams Sonoma) and some dehydrated raspberries. I should have definitely bought much more back...

BuBbles - I will do some pics when I unpack!!

I am loving MasterChef this year but I think it is easier to connect with everyone once their numbers dwindle a little more - I think there are still 18 or 19 people. Tonight's ep looks really good.

Love to know just how much cheaper the stuff you bought for the baby was over there?
And I agree on the Masterchef... No one really stands out to me, I find them all quite boring.
Good luck with the unpacking. I'm never allowed to leave it... That dear husband of mine always wants it done NOW... (So he ends up doing most of it!)

Hi Sammie - the baby stuff was definitely a lot cheaper in the US. The Bugaboo and travel system came to $1100 including tax - in Australia the same thing is about $1900, depending on where you buy it. The cot was $430 including tax - the same cot is $800 on UrbanBaby. I bought outfits from Gap for $5-10 each, similar ones here are at least $20 each.

Carolyn - I agree with you. I definitely enjoy it more when I get to know he personalities involved. I am investing some quality time getting to know the contestants as we speak!

KittyCate - I definitely did! And for Mumma Kitty too!

Welcome back luv! Oh hang on, did Tim ask Julia to marry him? I've been here and I didn't know that! :P I haven't watched a minute of this season's Masterchef lol.

I have no idea Lorraine... It was in Woman's Day and everything in magazines is true, no?

I can't believe you haven't watched Masterchef - not a moment? That's truly amazing!
