Janet over at The Gardener's Cottage blogged about her favourite accessory: the perfect black flat. She asked everyone what their favourite accessory is.
Now I like a good flat shoe but for versatility, I don't think you can go past a strand of pearls. What I like about them is that they can be even and smooth, all regular in size and shape or they can be mixed with other gems and beads to create something modern and interesting. You can have different sized pearls to create a strand with interest. There's nothing predictable about the pearl.
Mr Kitty often asks me why I like them so much (read: why do you buy so many pearl necklaces? You really need another one? You already have so many!). I love them for the simple reason that they go with everything. You can throw on a strand of pearls and feel like Jackie O or Grace Kelly. Glamorous. Simple. Understated. Chic.
They are classically elegant. They are not as expensive as other gems so, Mr Kitty, I can own far more of them. Fake ones often look as good as the real thing, in fact, Jackie O's famous triple strand of pearls was actually made from glass. And you'd never know.
Pearls are versatile - you can wear then to christenings, weddings and funerals. You can wear them to business meetings or on dates. You can wear them with a little black dress and look like Audrey Hepburn or with jeans and a cardi and still look like Audrey.
Pearls are definitely my ultimate accessory. What's your favourite accessory?

Do you know I don't own any pearls? Not even fake ones? I wear the exact same jewellery every day. I would like some pearls - I think you have convinced me to put some on my Wish List. But it's such a big decision - classec and simple? Oversized? Vintage? Hmm.
I love pearls too! In fact i prefer a pearl necklace over a diamond one any time of the day, rain, hail or shine!

A lovely post - such gorgeous things pearls - in fact it has been way too long since I wore any so you have inspired me to wear a pearl necklace today!! XX
I agree re pearls being the ultimate accessory!
My favourite accessories are definitely earrings. There are so many nice designs that are affordable so I don't feel guilty about buying them on a semi-regular basis.
I wear a necklace with a heart pendant that Mr Curious bought me on our first Valentine's day and I almost never take it off :-)
oh miss kitty-Cat thank you for posting this. why don't i know about your blog? why? it's adorable. i'm your newest follower.

I've never worn pearls, but I do admire them on others every time. I think my can't-do-without is a pair of flat leopard print shoes. I've had many, many pairs over the years from all different brands, but I always have at least 2 pairs in my cupboard. I never care if leopard-print is 'in' or 'out', they go with everything and lift an outfit. x
Hey Kits,
Wheely walker (which I posted on GC as my fav accessory) has been STOLEN by some old 909 yr old with a new hip. Honestly, not happy.
Should I get Mr iT to bring in my pearls to wear with my PJ's?
The anti DVT stockings they make you wear here are opaque white - there's a thought - pearls to match the white legs.
Loved hearing from you today,
Lou

Completely agree with the pearls and also leopard print...all the way....it's probably just aswell I dont have a "Mr Kitty..."
My fav accessory is my diamond Rolex bought for my 21st birthday.
I purchased it on a cost-per-wear basis, which seemed partially reasonable over a lifetime.

Hi Kitty-cat, I've tried them on last weekend and they are 25% off which is even better! Hepburn style never goes wrong ;)

Loved this, Kitty. I think you are oh so right about pearls--I need to wear mine more. Great blog too--I found you via Janet at the Gardener's Cottage. I played along too and posted my favorite accessories. Come over and visit ; ). xxBliss
Pearls are by far my favourite, I'm wearing them right now! I just think they look so timeless, classic and elegant. I'm on the lookout for a pretty pearl ring, I'm yet to come across one as of yet! xx
