Mr Kitty gets a jump start on the nursery.

Mr K has been a busy little cat over the last week. He has moved out of his study in preparation for turning it into the baby's room. Years worth of paper to be sorted. The study is located next to our bedroom so it's really quite convenient to be used as a baby room. Mr K has temporarily relocated to our formal lounge (which we never use) and seems quite happy there.

He's been a busy cat indeed, spending the weekend painting the room - we opted for Dulux Fair Bianca in Half strength. I was leaning towards a soft pink but I thought it might be too much. Having a neutral base to work with means you can do so much more with the accessories!

We have chosen a chair, some shelves and a chest of drawers from Ikea.

We already have the cot, and the mattress etc. arrived today.

I have some decorative items, including an owl cushion from the Lovely Naomi from Manic Muffin Totes, but I am waiting until the furniture is all in before going nuts on the "stuff". I also need to finalise curtains quite quickly.

Lots of progress, but it feels like we still have so much to do!

I can't wait to see how the nursery ends up, Kitty. I love the 'foundation' pieces you have already and the owl pillow is very sweet. It reminds me of this darling little mobile which I'll be making if we have a little girl: http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/2011/06/owl-mobile-with-tree-template.html

I have to say the nursery is one of the things I'm finding it most difficult *not* to think about in these limbo weeks. I have just made a quilt for my friend's little boy who is due to arrive in 3 weeks, and I'm itching to put something togeher for our own little one!!!! (If you're curious, you can see the quilt I made on my 'other' blog - www.littlewhisk.blogspot.com). I have so many ideas! Dan keeps chastising me every time I think of something and exclaim about it. GRRR.

Weren't you going to get the cot in that fab bold green at one stage? I like the white I must say :).

Thanks SE - he's done a great job!

Amy - what an AMAZING job you have done on the quilt! I'm seriously considering commissioning you to do something for Little Miss K! We started thinking about the nursery when I was about 13 weeks, but only because we bought the cot etc. overseas on our holiday (so much cheaper). I was thinking the green, but I couldn't find anything that would match it for the nursery (and it's very VIVID in real life). Plus I liked a softer green - more like the chair colour. The white cot was a bit more neutral to build the rest of the nursery around... But don't fret - you have plenty of time to get organised for the nursery. So many options to consider. K xx

I love Fair Bianca. I've painted furniture in that colour, and it's beautiful and soft. I really like the sage colour of the chair. Looks so comfy. Can't wait to see the finished nursery too.

I bought an owl and a mouse from Manic Muffin Totes for a friend's baby a couple of years ago - one of the first things I purchased from Etsy! They are very cute and I think the owl you have chosen with look very nice with your colour scheme!

Sounds like it is all coming together nicely! That chair looks super comfy and I love the touches of green. The owl is a beauty. Was that the one named "Sweet Pea"??!!
